About i for one

'i for one' is a publication about the tech world with deep dives into artificial intelligence and modern software development and technology advancements — essays, field notes, and practical takes on how the field is actually changing.

It’s written for engineers and technical founders who want signal over hype: concrete examples, honest trade-offs, and ideas you can use in your next commit.

Ramsay Domloge is a cynical, opinionated software engineer, Tech Lead, Solution Architect and now writer. He’s been building software for 30 years, and has worked at startups, large companies, and as a consultant. He's been made redundant 4 times due to company failures, although he's reasonably confident they weren't all his fault. Particularly Nortel. He’s passionate about writing and sharing his thoughts on the tech industry and will continue doing so until someone takes his keyboard away.

The site is named after the Simpsons' Kent Brockman who uttered the immortal line "I for one welcome our new insect overlords" in the episode "Deep Space Homer". The name is a tongue-in-cheek nod to the idea that we may one day be ruled by AI, and also a reference to the fact that the site will be covering topics related to artificial intelligence and technology advancements.
